Up//Roar: Poems of Queer Resistance

Arachne Press has long been a champion of LGBTQ+ writers, and our first anthology of LGBTQ+ poetry Joy//Us, was something of a hit!

It was a strange moment, publishing joyful poems, that celebrated all that is best about our community/ies and lives.

The environment for LGBTQ+ communities has changed alarmingly quickly in the last two years and these are new queer poems for bleaker times.

Are we angry? You bet we are. Do we still laugh, make jokes, make love, make friends, forge communities and make a lot of noise?

Of course.

Poetry is an act of resistance, it gives us strength, and it takes many forms, from singing to nail varnish, gossip to badges, refusing to back down and refusing to forget.

Coming out as Queer Resistance! Living bold as Queer Resistance! Pushing back as Queer Resistance! Shouting out as Queer Resistance! Showing up as Queer Resistance! Knowing history as Queer Resistance! Doing the work as Queer Resistance! Politics as Queer Resistance! Creativity as Queer Resistance! The exclamation mark as Queer Resistance!
